Mary Shuttleworth President ,Youth for Human Rights International
Educator Mary Shuttleworth was born in apartheid South Africa where she saw first-hand the devastating effects of discrimination. She moved to the United States and started her first non-profit corporation and private school in 1998.
Mary started Youth for Human Rights International in 2001 and has since traveled to over 50 countries and conducted YHRI World Tours in 2004, 2005 and 2006 to promote human rights. She has hosted international youth summits in UNICEF House and United Nations Headquarters in New York which were attended by young leaders from around the world. She is the Executive Producer of the UNITED music video —the theme song for YHRI— that has won more than a dozen international awards. She has appeared on national and international radio and TV shows and been featured in the press. Through her efforts she has reached millions with her message about the importance of inspiring youth through education.
