Conference on Human Trafficking and Child Abduction Held

November 13, 2006

The Preventing Abuse Conference on Human Trafficking and Child Abduction was hosted by the Cedars Cultural and Educational Foundation at the Sheraton Universal Hotel on November 13th, 2006.

United States Department of State Senior Advisor of Trafficking, Laura J. Lederer, made a powerful presentation. Mary Shuttleworth, President of the International Foundation for Human Rights presented Lederer with a copy of the Youth for Human Rights “30 Rights. 30 Ads” video depicting the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. With them in the photo are Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women, Anne Dunn, and Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition Founder, Marissa Ugarte.

Other presenters at the conference included Mr. J. Stephen Tidwell, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Vice President, Original Movies, Lifetime Television, Arturo Interian and National Consultant for Trafficking Survivor Services, Salvation Army, Michael A. Smith.

The conference, organized by Tony Nassif, raised awareness on the multi billion dollar illegal and inhuman trafficking of children, women and men both intra- and internationally. Representatives from governmental, religious, community and youth groups rallied together to put an end to this heinous crime.
